Kynar Paints Brightening Up Florida

Posted on 06 November 2010 by johnd

The 18-person professional paint team for Marion County Schools in Ocala, Florida has seen it all. Harsh Florida sun fading away recently painted projects. Graffiti on school property. Scuff marks on doors from thousands of feet.

To make a long-term “dent” in their ongoing painting challenges, the technical services people have turned to NeverFade™ exterior paint. Warranted to last 15 years against fading, the paint (in Leap Frog Green) is being used to repaint eight high school football field goal posts along with several practice field posts. Since the existing acrylic semi-gloss paint on the field posts chalked out after just three years, the professional painters are eager to use the NeverFade paint.

“NeverFade has great potential for us,” says Louis E. Hickman, Jr., paint department foreman for Marion County Schools/Technical Services. “From the success we’re already having with this paint, I’d recommend any school system that has high ultraviolet ray exposure areas try NeverFade.”

NeverFade professional exterior paint is formulated with Kynar Aquatec® polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), a tough, engineered thermoplastic that offers a unique balance of properties. As a result, NeverFade paint withstands harsh thermal, chemical and ultraviolet environmental conditions. In essence, it resists abrasions, restricts the growth of mold and mildew, and will not pick up dirt. Ultraviolet blockers and high quality pigments are mixed with the fluoropolymer resin to further prevent against fading and chalking.

Painting the School Red

In addition to the field posts, Hickman and his team are repainting the campus at Fort King Middle School in Ocala. Exterior entry doors, metal rails and ornamental steel are all being painted with NeverFade’s Primary Red exterior paint. Seven buildings are included in the project, some of which were painted recently but need repainting again because of chalking problems.

“Graffiti and vandalism are our primary challenges in school settings,” says Hickman. “After that, it’s the damaging sun’s rays that can fade paint quickly. We see the NeverFade paint as an investment. The ease of application and drying times are great, and the 15-year warranty is impressive as it demonstrates the manufacturer’s confidence in the product’s performance.

“I’ve been in the trade since 1971. As soon as I saw the information on NeverFade I did some research and we started using the paint. The fact that this is the first fluoropolymer paint in one component means it has great potential. We’ve used a log of competitor’s paints in the past, but they’ve always had a two-component material. NeverFade is a great maintenance product that should have strong life cycle returns for the cost.”

Available nationwide for use on both residential and commercial projects, NeverFade may be applied to vinyl siding, PVC, wood, aluminum siding, stucco, masonry, and fiber cement surfaces. Since each paint order is custom made, NeverFade is available in an unlimited number of colors.

Medical specialists like Podiatrist Stuart Mogul, DPM will contribute the tips. Mogul says “high heels don’t cause bunions, but they sure can aggravate them. Both the heel height and the point of the shoe can play a role.”

Sexy Starts at the Sole says they want to remind women to make sure their high heel shoes fit by standing up in the heels to see if there is a gap between the shoe and the heel as well as the tip of trying stockings with heels to improve comfort.

Karen Harrington Blasts Debbie Wasserman’s Debate Record

Posted on 12 October 2010 by johnd

This post comes from Karen Harrington’s campaign team. The views expressed here don’t necessarily reflect the views of the awesome editors here at Baret News. So stop whining. Oh, I’m kidding.

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has done quite a bit of campaigning this mid-term election season.  The issue for Debbie is that most of her campaigning these days is done almost everywhere but within her South Florida congressional district.  Yesterday, she appeared on Fox News Sunday live via satellite from Portland, Maine, taking her re-election campaign over 1000 miles away from the congressional district she represents- with just weeks to go before the November election.  It’s apparent that Debbie believes it isn’t necessary to put much time and effort into defending her ’safe’ congressional seat as it is to get her fellow Democrats re-elected across the country.

As further proof of Debbie’s dismissive attitude towards her own congressional district, Debbie has already cancelled two debates with the one person she wants to avoid at any cost- her Republican challenger Karen Harrington.  These debates were to be moderated separately by Channel 10’s Michael Putney and Univision, and to this date, her campaign continues to stall and delay the rescheduling of these debates.  It’s no mystery to us why Debbie is afraid to defend her record within the 20th Congressional District- its voters know Debbie best and feel the impact of her failed policies more than anyone.

Debbie’s most pressing priority these days is campaigning for Democratic candidates in Congressional Districts across the country rather than holding herself to account within her own District.  Debbie has already publicly stated that she does indeed take her Congressional District and its voters for granted:

From CQ Politics (8/11):

“This is the third cycle that I’ve been spending a lot of time on the road,” Wasserman-Schultz said. “It’s more and more every cycle. Mostly it’s because ‘Frontline’ Members have asked me to come to their districts.”

“I’m focused on working hard to re-elect our Members,” Wasserman-Schultz said. “I’ve always felt that I’m from a district where I can help, so I do.”

“The voters of the 20th Congressional District deserve a representative in Congress who is grounded in the District and understands its real concerns, not someone who is more preoccupied with climbing the rungs of her Party’s leadership than she is with earning people’s votes,” said Karen Harrington, candidate for Congress in Florida’s 20th Congressional District.  “I challenge Debbie Wasserman-Schultz to three full debates over the course of the final three weeks of the campaign. The voters of the 20th Congressional District deserve to hear a clear alternative to the reckless spending and regulation that Debbie has championed throughout her entire career, and her record of failure needs to be held to account.”

Car Swipes School Bus, Sends Four Kids to Hospital

Posted on 04 October 2010 by johnd

Four children were taken to Memorial Hospital after an idiot sideswiped the school bus they were riding on. The crash ostensibly further pushes the argument of the necessity of seat belts on buses.

The wreck happened right in front of Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church and Academy on University Drive in Davie. Authorities say the crash was merely minor – minor enough to send four kids to the hospital.

The bus driver continued on to the school and dropped the remaining kids off, where they were looked over for injuries. How the crash happened, including culpability, has not yet been released.

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz Faces a Moment of Truth

Posted on 18 September 2010 by PembrokePinesNewswire

As Her Democratic Colleagues Plead With Their Leadership to Stop Tax Hikes on Small Businesses, Does Debbie Wasserman-Schultz Agree with Her “Mentor” Nancy Pelosi?

Pelosi: Freezing Current Tax Rates for all Americans Doesn’t “Create Jobs,” it just “Adds to the Deficit”

Pembroke Pines, FL. – With over 30 members of the House Democratic Caucus breaking ranks with their President and their Party to support the extension of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts for Americans in all income brackets, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz faces a moment of truth: will she stay true to her roots and persist with her partisan economic policies that are fueled by envy and class-warfare, or will she join a growing number of her Democratic colleagues and admit that the tax-cutting policies of the prior administration were the right thing to do; policies that she has blamed and ridiculed at every opportunity?

Unfortunately, it is clear that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and her self-proclaimed mentor, Nancy Pelosi, will not relent from their pursuit of reckless economic policies that have resulted in 16 consecutive months of unemployment above 9%, nearing an all-time record.

Both the mentor and her pupil oppose extending tax cuts for all Americans because their concern is about growing government and paying off their constituency groups with their reckless spending binges; all at the expense of American taxpayers.

With all of the partisan rhetoric and political posturing surrounding the debate on tax cuts in Congress, this is what remains true: there are no real cuts to income tax rates that are currently being proposed by any Democrat in Congress. What is being debated is whether or not the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts should be allowed to expire or not. If Congress fails to act by the end of this year, those tax cuts will expire, and tax rates will increase for income brackets across the board; increases that will directly impact thousands of small businesses, which would all but end any chance of a near-term economic recovery.

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz’s record of divisive partisan rhetoric about taxes and the economy is undeniable, and she has a history of playing class-warfare card whenever it suits her politically,” said Karen Harrington, Republican candidate for Congress challenging Debbie Wasserman Schultz in Florida’s 20th District.

“There can be little doubt that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz opposes across-the-board tax cuts for all Americans, placing partisan politics before the people. We should be enacting policies that allow small businesses across the country to grow and create jobs instead of subjected them to higher taxes that will only further paralyze their ability to expand and create jobs. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is directly responsible for creating a terrible business climate that confronts small businesses with the threat of higher taxes and more burdensome regulations- all of which she has strongly supported. Given Debbie’s complete lack of experience with running a business, creating jobs, or meeting a payroll, no one should wonder why she persists in her ignorance. After all, prolonging her political career always takes precedence over everything else including what is in the best interest of the American people and the citizens of Florida’s 20th District,” said Harrington.

Tell us what you think about Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.

Posted on 13 August 2010 by PembrokePinesNewswire

A 30-year-old man, possibly in the US illegally, was being without bond by Pembroke Pines police, after they caught and arrested him on charges of robbing and injuring an 89-year-old woman.

The man, Edward Palomares, gave police a California address, and is to be held until he appears before an immigration judge.

Police say the suspect grabbed Zenaida Villegas’ purse, outside Sedano’s Supermarket at Pines Boulevard near Palm Avenue. He pushed Villegas to the ground, breaking her left arm and causing a one-inch cut above her left eye, according to the police report.

Police caught Palomares after a traffic stop, and charged him with robbery, aggravated battery on a person older than 65 years and driving with a suspended license. Palomares was identified by two witnesses.
