Philip Kapneck Surfing the Wave of Goodwill

Posted on 05 June 2011 by PembrokePinesNewswire

During the past years when the recession was starting to take hold and change the American way of life and the American dream, there were those who worked harder and longer each day to help their fellow citizens, keep their heads above water. One of these individuals was Maryland Trade Ambassador Philip Kapneck who was able to contact and reconnect with business and industry he attracted to the USA over the past 30 years, that created jobs for individuals in Maryland.

Since the recession, Ambassador Kapneck called on the same companies he helped to set up their businesses in past years, and surfing the wave of goodwill, he was able to find jobs for people who lost theirs with other companies. While this was not one of his duties, he felt that it was essential to help those in need of work.

Ambassador Kapneck does not want any notoriety or press coverage about his work, but it seems that the press has a yearning to cover his unselfish work in helping others.

People like Ambassador Kapneck and their hard work are responsible for 2011’s third straight month in creating new employment over the 200,000 mark in the USA.
Through research we were able to supply a list of some positions that Ambassador Kapneck held and some he is still holding as follows:

• Delegate to the Maryland State Convention
• He was appointed by Governor Marvin Mandel to open Maryland’s first overseas office in Brussels, Belgium as the State’s Trade Ambassador. He assisted the Federal Government in “Invest in the USA”.
• He was appointed by Secretary of Business and Economic Development to represent the State of Maryland with international companies in Asia and the South Pacific.
• He was appointed by former New Zealand Prime Minister Rowlings as Special Advisor Ambassador/Maryland Trade Ambassador to assist companies in New Zealand and Australia doing business in the USA.
• He has been appointed by each administration to date, since his first appointment to Belgium over 30 years ago, and is still serving as Maryland Trade Ambassador.

Ambassador Kapneck’s ability to achieve the goals set before him, and always extending a helping hand, when it is possible to do so, has made him an icon in his own time, from his success in attracting business and industry to the creation of jobs.

Trade Ambassador Philip Kapneck Helps Create Jobs in Maryland

Posted on 11 May 2011 by Judyth Piazza

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” Thomas Jefferson

Hardworking people that are working for the people try to cut cost anyway that they can to help decrease America`s budget deficit and create jobs for Americans. Trade Ambassador Philip Kapneck has helped to create jobs for more than 30 years and has attracted business and industry to Maryland while working many years, without remuneration.

Ambassador Kapneck was first appointed by Governor Marvin Mandel to open Maryland`s first overseas office in Brussels, Belgium as the State`s Trade Ambassador. Ambassador Kapneck has been appointed by each administration to date since his first appointment to Belgium. He assisted the Federal Government in “Invest in the USA”. Ambassador Kapneck works tirelessly for the people of Maryland, creating jobs by bringing companies to Maryland that are unique and useful, and that need a quality workforce.

Ambassador Kapneck has introduced many companies to Maryland by helping these companies get established in the State of Maryland. Once they are established he continues to assist them in contacting other business operations which in turn makes the new companies a valuable part of the state economy and in turn, this helps to reduce unemployment numbers.

Ambassador Philip Kapneck is the true meaning of the inaugural speech once given by President John F. Kennedy. “Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country.”

A State Official said that Ambassador Kapneck is not looking for publicity or public recognition for his work; he just wants to help people.

Karen Harrington Blasts Debbie Wasserman’s Debate Record

Posted on 12 October 2010 by johnd

This post comes from Karen Harrington’s campaign team. The views expressed here don’t necessarily reflect the views of the awesome editors here at Baret News. So stop whining. Oh, I’m kidding.

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has done quite a bit of campaigning this mid-term election season.  The issue for Debbie is that most of her campaigning these days is done almost everywhere but within her South Florida congressional district.  Yesterday, she appeared on Fox News Sunday live via satellite from Portland, Maine, taking her re-election campaign over 1000 miles away from the congressional district she represents- with just weeks to go before the November election.  It’s apparent that Debbie believes it isn’t necessary to put much time and effort into defending her ’safe’ congressional seat as it is to get her fellow Democrats re-elected across the country.

As further proof of Debbie’s dismissive attitude towards her own congressional district, Debbie has already cancelled two debates with the one person she wants to avoid at any cost- her Republican challenger Karen Harrington.  These debates were to be moderated separately by Channel 10’s Michael Putney and Univision, and to this date, her campaign continues to stall and delay the rescheduling of these debates.  It’s no mystery to us why Debbie is afraid to defend her record within the 20th Congressional District- its voters know Debbie best and feel the impact of her failed policies more than anyone.

Debbie’s most pressing priority these days is campaigning for Democratic candidates in Congressional Districts across the country rather than holding herself to account within her own District.  Debbie has already publicly stated that she does indeed take her Congressional District and its voters for granted:

From CQ Politics (8/11):

“This is the third cycle that I’ve been spending a lot of time on the road,” Wasserman-Schultz said. “It’s more and more every cycle. Mostly it’s because ‘Frontline’ Members have asked me to come to their districts.”

“I’m focused on working hard to re-elect our Members,” Wasserman-Schultz said. “I’ve always felt that I’m from a district where I can help, so I do.”

“The voters of the 20th Congressional District deserve a representative in Congress who is grounded in the District and understands its real concerns, not someone who is more preoccupied with climbing the rungs of her Party’s leadership than she is with earning people’s votes,” said Karen Harrington, candidate for Congress in Florida’s 20th Congressional District.  “I challenge Debbie Wasserman-Schultz to three full debates over the course of the final three weeks of the campaign. The voters of the 20th Congressional District deserve to hear a clear alternative to the reckless spending and regulation that Debbie has championed throughout her entire career, and her record of failure needs to be held to account.”

Kendrick Meek Looks to Make Gains in Senate Campaign

Posted on 02 October 2010 by johnd

Kendrick Meek Campaign Progress

Florida Democratic Senate candidate Kendrick Meek’s campaign manager had this to say about his campaign, as well as his tactics:

It’s been quite a week. With just 33 days until the election, we’re firing on all cylinders. And it’s working.

Poll Gains for Kendrick Meek

The new Mason-Dixon poll shows Kendrick Meek is making big gains with Democrats and Independents. Just yesterday, we released a new TV ad exposing the truth about Charlie Crist’s conservative record that the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza called “devastating.”

Kendrick Meek

Kendrick Meek

We’ve got to keep it up. I’m making our October spending decisions tomorrow, and how much we raise before midnight will determine how much we can spend on the air and on the ground turning out voters.

We have less than 14 hours until the critical end-of-quarter deadline and are just $7,317 shy of our $75,000 goal.

The Miami Herald/St. Petersburg Times said our ad is “another indication that Crist [is] looking more and more like political toast.” But, we aren’t taking anything for granted.

In politics, five weeks is an eternity. A lot is happening and the momentum is all in Kendrick Meek’s direction. But, I know there are going to be a lot of twists and turns in this race so we’re not going to stop.

Abe Dyk is the campaign manager for Kendrick Meek.

Karen Harrington Blisters Debbie Wasserman-Schultz

Posted on 29 September 2010 by johnd

Ooh, catfight. Bear in mind that this in no way reflects the views or opinions of this particular website – I just love a good catfight!

Enjoy:

It is no secret that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is one of the most brazen partisan politicians in the country today. In every media appearance, Debbie never deviates from her talking points and her political spin- but the truth is that her misinformation and outright falsehoods cannot withstand scrutiny. Time and again, Debbie-Wasserman-Schultz is routinely tasked with the role of caricaturing and vilifying her political opposition while she fundamentally deceives the American people about the true nature of her Party’s radical agenda that continues to divide the American people.

The hard truth about Debbie’s agenda that she cannot avoid is that it really is more of the same- unsustainable fiscal spending that comes at taxpayer expense, a hostile government takeover of the health care system that threatens the quality of our health care, the creation of massive new bureaucracies and expansion of government power- there is nothing “new” here; Debbie’s agenda is a tried and failed plan of action.

As Debbie has busied herself supporting policies that are sure to fail the American people, her and her Democratic Party have now become derelict in their responsibilities, as they have announced that they will not schedule a vote on extending the Bush-era tax cuts for every American before adjourning Congress at the end of this week.

“All Americans are going to suffer the biggest tax increase in history if Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and the Democratic-controlled Congress do not vote to renew tax-rate cuts,” said Karen Harrington, the candidate challenging Wasserman-Schultz in Florida’s 20th Congressional District.  “There is not one small business owner operating in the United States who knows what their tax rate will be as of January 1st.  Small businesses will not be able to make hiring decisions or determine capital spending in this kind of economic uncertainty.  The hard economic reality is that my restaurant business, just like most other small businesses here in South Florida, will unfortunately postpone hiring and expansion decisions until after the beginning of next year.

“If taxes are increased come January 1st, the current poor economic climate will become even worse, and the chance that new hiring will take place or that businesses will expand their operations will become far less likely. Unfortunately, it is Debbie Wasserman-Schultz’s ignorance about the way business works that is causing needless uncertainty amongst small businesses and doing great damage to South Florida’s economy.  Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s awards and photo-ops do not help small businesses, and her present inaction on taxes is only doing further damage to the same small businesses that she claims to support.  As more people come to understand that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz has nothing to offer other than platitudes and policies that are hijacking our economy, the more people will abandon her and her agenda,” said Harrington.

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz Faces a Moment of Truth

Posted on 18 September 2010 by PembrokePinesNewswire

As Her Democratic Colleagues Plead With Their Leadership to Stop Tax Hikes on Small Businesses, Does Debbie Wasserman-Schultz Agree with Her “Mentor” Nancy Pelosi?

Pelosi: Freezing Current Tax Rates for all Americans Doesn’t “Create Jobs,” it just “Adds to the Deficit”

Pembroke Pines, FL. – With over 30 members of the House Democratic Caucus breaking ranks with their President and their Party to support the extension of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts for Americans in all income brackets, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz faces a moment of truth: will she stay true to her roots and persist with her partisan economic policies that are fueled by envy and class-warfare, or will she join a growing number of her Democratic colleagues and admit that the tax-cutting policies of the prior administration were the right thing to do; policies that she has blamed and ridiculed at every opportunity?

Unfortunately, it is clear that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and her self-proclaimed mentor, Nancy Pelosi, will not relent from their pursuit of reckless economic policies that have resulted in 16 consecutive months of unemployment above 9%, nearing an all-time record.

Both the mentor and her pupil oppose extending tax cuts for all Americans because their concern is about growing government and paying off their constituency groups with their reckless spending binges; all at the expense of American taxpayers.

With all of the partisan rhetoric and political posturing surrounding the debate on tax cuts in Congress, this is what remains true: there are no real cuts to income tax rates that are currently being proposed by any Democrat in Congress. What is being debated is whether or not the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts should be allowed to expire or not. If Congress fails to act by the end of this year, those tax cuts will expire, and tax rates will increase for income brackets across the board; increases that will directly impact thousands of small businesses, which would all but end any chance of a near-term economic recovery.

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz’s record of divisive partisan rhetoric about taxes and the economy is undeniable, and she has a history of playing class-warfare card whenever it suits her politically,” said Karen Harrington, Republican candidate for Congress challenging Debbie Wasserman Schultz in Florida’s 20th District.

“There can be little doubt that Debbie Wasserman-Schultz opposes across-the-board tax cuts for all Americans, placing partisan politics before the people. We should be enacting policies that allow small businesses across the country to grow and create jobs instead of subjected them to higher taxes that will only further paralyze their ability to expand and create jobs. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is directly responsible for creating a terrible business climate that confronts small businesses with the threat of higher taxes and more burdensome regulations- all of which she has strongly supported. Given Debbie’s complete lack of experience with running a business, creating jobs, or meeting a payroll, no one should wonder why she persists in her ignorance. After all, prolonging her political career always takes precedence over everything else including what is in the best interest of the American people and the citizens of Florida’s 20th District,” said Harrington.

Tell us what you think about Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.

Snitker Congratulates, Warns Rubio and Meek

Posted on 29 August 2010 by admin

Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate Alex Snitker had words of congratulations – and words of warning – for Republican and Democrat Senate primary election winners.

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Marco Rubio won in a landslide over a handful of lesser know GOP challengers, while Democrat Kendrick Meek prevailed in a relatively close battle with billionaire Jeff Greene.

Snitker also issued a challenge to his competition.

“I look forward to open debates between me, Rubio, Meek and Crist. You’ve enjoyed the luxury of avoiding me during your primary battles; however, all bets are now off. Gentlemen, this is now officially a four-way race, and I am in it to win.”

- Alexander Snitker

Alexander Snitker

Alexander Snitker

The outspoken Libertarian says he is the true tea party candidate, and accused Rubio being “afraid” to debate him on the issues. In a recent press release, the Snitker campaign accused Rubio of cancelling several speaking engagements after learning that Snitker would also be there, most recently on August 21st at the U.S. Constitution Freedom Rally in Fort Walton Beach

Brian Blair Understands What Small Businesses in Florida Need

Posted on 24 August 2010 by PembrokePinesNewswire

Blair’s stance on jobs and small businesses has never faltered. Blair wants to create quality, good paying jobs for the Tampa Bay community; which starts with small businesses.

These small businessmen know and trust that when Blair gets elected (with your help) to the Florida House of Representatives, he will have their best interest in mind, not just carrying on what his party wants; Blair will bring “real” change to Florida.

Enough Is Enough!

Brian Blair understands what the small business people in Florida need. He has risked his own money to build a business, he’s faced the pressures of meeting a payroll and he understands that small business is the engine that runs the economy.

I know Brian, I respect Brian and I know Brian’s heart and it is good. I support Brian because I KNOW he will have our needs and interests guide him and not just some blind party politics. I support Brian because I KNOW he is not using this office as just a stepping stone to advance his political ambitions as others trying for office seem to be doing.

I am sure that all the people running for office are good people, who care about what happens to those of us within the district, but I don’t know them personally. But none of them has shown me any of the depth of understanding of our problems that Brian has.

Elect the “right” person, elect Brian Blair.

- Ronald L. McDonald

Ronald is a past member of the Presidents Business Advisory Council, Chairman of McDonald Hospitality Group, Published Author and Past Chairman of the Mensa Entrepreneurial Group and a constituent of what will become Brian’s district.

Without Politicians Who Understand My Business We Can’t Survive

I have operated my business, The Tampa Picture Show, on Dale Mabry for over 28 years and now face the prospect of having to close it down because of the poor economy and the poor decisions being made locally, statewide and nationally by politicians who never in their lives built or owned a business.

These political employees feel they can decide what is best for us in the business community. They don’t create jobs, we do. They don’t meet payrolls, we do. They don’t invest their own money, we do. And they don’t really care if that extra fee or tax increase will hurt our business, WE DO. You know who else cares? Brian Blair. I know Brian never has and never will raise a tax rate or fee.

The politicians don’t have to worry about “Their” employees, those are all civil servants who survive on the sweat of those of us who gamble our savings to build business to pay the taxes that pay their salaries and benefits. All the politicians have to do is raise Taxes, our taxes to pay for themselves.

We need Brian in a position to act as our voice in Tallahassee.

As a businessman I support Brian and ask you to please vote for Brian so that I can have a Champion who understands a small businesspersons needs.

- Wayne Valenti

Wayne Valenti is the owner of The Tampa Pitcher Show, a small business with a 28 year history of servicing the Carrollwood neighborhood with family friendly entertainment. He has been active in numerous charities and non-profits.

“I am speechless. I humbly and sincerely thank you again for your wisdom, insight and motivation to serve the people. You have just re-energized me with your words!” says Brian Blair.

Karen Harrington Receives Endorsement From Veterans’ Vision

Posted on 07 July 2010 by PembrokePinesNewswire

Pembroke Pines, FL- The Karen Harrington for Congress Campaign is proud to announce that the Electoral Board of the Veterans’ Vision publication has endorsed Karen Harrington for Congress in Florida’s 20th Congressional District. Harrington received the paper’s full endorsement for her “ongoing commitment to American and homeless veterans and her calls to bring fiscal responsibility to the Department of Veterans Affairs,” according to the statement.

“We are proud to extend our unequivocal endorsement for Karen Harrington to the United States Congress,” said Maj. Brian Hampton, USAR (ret.), publisher of Veterans’ Vision, a national veteran’ rights and advocacy publication.

Harrington recently joined 57 current Members of Congress in affirming her support for the Veterans’ Bill of Rights sponsored by the Veterans’ Vision. The Veterans’ Bill of Rights would require that every Veterans Administration Medical Center in the country offer Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) counseling; would receive increased funding for non-profit transitional facilities that get homeless veterans off the street; and make veterans a top priority for Members of Congress.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of Major Hampton and Veterans’ Vision, a publication that is unwavering in its efforts to inform and advocate on behalf of veterans across the country. Our nation’s veterans have my utmost gratitude and respect, and I look forward to being their stalwart advocate in Congress,” said Karen Harrington, candidate for Congress in Florida’s 20th Congressional District.

Americans Have No Confidence In Debbie

Posted on 07 July 2010 by PembrokePinesNewswire

Consumer Confidence Tanks, Small Businesses Shed Jobs, and Wasserman-Schultz’s Economic Spin Hits The Skids
Pembroke Pines, FL – Just mere weeks after gushing to Stuart Varney that the Obama Administration would “create more jobs in 2010 alone than were created during the entire Bush Presidency” and that consumer confidence was on the upswing, Americans gave Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz a decidedly different view about the American economy- a near 10 point decline in the Consumer Confidence Index, according the Conference Board’s leading measurement of the sentiment.

That precipitous drop- combined with near non-existent private-sector economic growth, unsustainable debt and deficits, and a national employment report that recorded a net loss of 1,000 small business jobs in the private sector from May to June- completely shatters the partisan economic spin-job that Wasserman-Schultz recently offered to Varney’s national television audience. The hard economic reality is that Americans are not buying, companies are not selling or hiring, and economic forecasters are substantially marking down their expectations for the remainder of this year.

“The only thing that Americans can rely on Debbie Wasserman-Schultz for are her seriously misleading economic analyses that paint a very distorted picture of our economy. She is incapable of leveling with the American people or taking responsibility for the economic results that have occurred on her watch,” said Karen Harrington, the Republican congressional candidate in Florida’s 20th District.”

“Here’s where Debbie’s economic policies have landed us- with a real unemployment rate of almost 17 percent- proving that the so-called ‘Stimulus Plan’ is a failure; and a dismal economic climate filled with uncertainty that stalls small business growth and hiring. And with the looming income, dividend, and capital gains tax increases that are coming in 2011, it’s understandable why the only people who are left wearing rose-colored glasses about our present economic picture are individuals with no real-world business experience such as Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.”
